Jean大學時就讀醫學院，在某天發覺自己真正想從事的工作是插畫後，他迅速地採取了行動。他開始上準備課程以轉往美術發展，隔年順利進入美術大學。他取得素描的文憑，接著陸續嘗試版畫、塑膠藝術等來挖掘自己的興趣。畢業後，他成立了出版專業插畫月刊«Un Fanzine par Mois»的組織。
Jean的作品風格充滿現代性且具有獨特的奇幻感。他擁有深厚的素描功力，因此能夠畫出具有豐富細節的緻密結構。在如詩如畫的風景、時而受到古典啟發的宏偉空間中，增添現代元素。 他的作品風格使用Ligne claire（在兩個顏色的交界處畫線）技法，並且受到他喜愛的藝術家──Winsor McCay、François Schuiten、Mœbius、Pierre Clement等人影響，經過自身的詮釋後確立了他的原創性。
目前Jean Dalin的世界已獲得巴黎奧運2024，以及Mœbius為創立人之一、歷史悠久的Métal Hurlant雜誌肯定。
